The Shadow Lords' Castle - Common Areas
The
common areas of the Shadow Lords' Castle are the central portion of the
castle which the Shadow Lords
share. It is "neutral territory" for the Shadow Lords, who are
in conflict with each other at least as much as they are with their enemies,
if not as overtly. The common areas, like the rest of the castle, are
built primarily of thick stone walls, with stone floors below and great
wooden beams overhead. The Great Hall is located here, the seat of power
from which the Shadow Lords as a whole rule the entirety of the Dark
Place. There is also rumored to be, somewhere in this area of the
castle, a mysterious Hall of Mirrors, which may be a portal to the Chaos
Realms, among other things. The common areas are the first part of
the castle that visitors usually see, and there is a large courtyard in
the center, open to the air, although there doesn't seem to be anything
growing in it except a few dead trees. They primarily serve as a buffer
zone so that the Shadow Lords in their separate wings do not step on each
others toes.
