The Wilds of the Dark Place
The
Wilds of the Dark Place are a vast, vast area of empty, desolate wilderness.
Most of the area of the Dark Place consists of the Wilds; there is little
else there except for the Shadow Lords' Castle. The Wilds are thousands
upon thousands of miles of empty, dark, mist-shrouded desolation. There
are few living things within it, though forests of dead trees and swampy
bogs abound. Some few plants somehow manage to live and grow in the eternal
dimness, but they are mostly stunted, twisted things, like the landscape
around them. Monsters roam the Wilds, fierce devouring things, all teeth
and claws and hot fetid breath, lusting for the blood of any foolish enough
to wander lost within that endless expanse. There are probably settlements
of a sort scattered throughout the wilds as well, the Shadow
Lords must be visiting *somewhere* when they go off into the areas
of the Dark Place around the Castle on whatever business it is they have,
but we are not aware of the location or populace of any of them, if they
exist.
